SEMH: The Hidden Disabliity
A hands on practical course to enable participants to:
- Understand social, emotional and mental health difficulties
- Respond effectively to challenging behaviour
- Develop inclusive practice to improve pupil outcomes and meet need
All 3 days must be attended:
Session 1: 8th November 2019
Session 2: 17th January 2020
Session 3: 20th March 2020
Facilitated by: Marian McClelland SLE
Pre-course task:
- Identify a child for case study, obtaining parental and school consent
- Complete a fact file for that child
Planned “gap tasks” / self-study in delegates schools:
Case study to be undertaken in delegates own school, involving assessment, intervention and measuring impact.
Further information:
- Delegates will be provided with a key text – "Simple Guide to Trauma" by Betsy Thierry (2017)
- Recommended resources will be available to explore and consider for use in home school
- One member of SLT per delegate to attend the morning session of Day 1
