Train to Teach Events

We will be attending the train to teach Northants event at Franklins Gardens, St James, Northampton on Thursday 3rd October at 5pm.

We will be giving information about the programme and offering guidance around applications and interviews. 

 

Application Process

Applications for our Primary School Direct programme should be submitted online through UCAS.

Applications for our 2020-2021 recruitment cycle will be open on 8th October 2019.

Our course codes for applications are 24ZQ for the salaried route and 24ZM for the tuition-only route.

If you meet the entry requirements and you match the profile of who we are looking for following shortlisting, you will be invited to a selection day at Fairfields School.

Work experience

For those applying to the salaried route, it is recommended that you have some work experience behind you, preferably at least three years. It is beneficial if this work experience is school-based.   

 

Entry Requirements

All applicants must have the following qualifications:

  • English, Maths and Science GCSE at Grace C/4 or above (some equivalency certificates are accepted)
  • Undergraduate degree at 2:2 or above
  • Additionally, all trainee placements will be subject to a full enhanced DBS check and medical questionnaire before commencement

Financial Information

Salaried Route

Currently, if you apply for the salaried school direct route, you will be entitled to a minimum salary equivalent to UQT1 on the teacher's pay scale (£17208 as of 18/19 figures). This will be paid by your sponsor school. Your tuition fees will also be paid for by your sponsor school (currently supported through grant funding).

Tuition Route

On the tuition only route, you will need to pay your tuition fees to the University of Derby (currently £9250 as of 2019/2020). You can get financial support with this via tuition fee loans.
